I didn’t realise at the time how eighties yuppie I look in this, but I quite like it? I’m basically living out all my Brat Pack fantasies as a ‘richie’ (i.e. rich girl) in an eighties film. The poor were always depicted as punks and rockers, haha..
I’ve got quite a good selection of peg trousers and camis so this is essentially a uniform of sorts for me. The peg trousers are probably one of my favourite trousers at the mo; gorgeous lightweight linen material making it perfect for the heatwave we’re currently enjoying in (usually) dreary grey England. Sadly, the petite version had completely sold out of most sizes except 8, which is a size too big, but I decided I liked them too much to not have them at all so got them anyway.
The fit is not too bad, considering, except I lose the double button detail at the waistband from attempting to make it tighter (check the Topshop website images for a better view), and it’s a bit more voluminous overall than it ought to be. If I come across a petite 6 now I will most likely snap that size up as well as I do really like them. And yanno, it never hurts to have both a pair of fat trousers and skinny trousers in a style you like, JUST IN CASE.
You’ve probably noticed that this is essentially an Instagram pic used as a blog picture. The truth is, had someone not snapped a good full length shot of this outfit a few days ago solely for IG, I would probably not have even blogged about it – which would have been a shame as it’s all current stock.
I post a lot more fashion on my Instagram these days, and do it relatively frequently. There’s a huge debate right now about whether you even need a blog anymore with how effective Instagram currently is, and with fashion I am starting to lean towards this thinking myself. It’s far easier to shoot something with your phone and summarise in a single picture the tone and source of the outfit, than setting up proper shoots on location that will then need more time editing and writing up. I’ve decided, in a bid to simply get content up more frequently (which is surely the most important thing, right?), I will from now on just start posting in detail about my Instagram outfits.
I fully understand it is a cop out, but it’s either that or nothing right now so I’m gonna go with what works best for me. I don’t want to not blog completely! So this seems the most viable option at present.
Hope you’re all not too disappointed. But hey, the trousers are nice, no?
